Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco in recent weeks, and its a move that makes a lot more sense than it would have done two years ago.
Isco was coming off the back of a season as a key piece in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, looking like the player he had promised to be for so many years flitting in and out of the team. Since then he has lost favour with successive managers, with the sturdy Casemiro preferred by both Rafa Benitez and Zinedine Zidane.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have had successive strong seasons under Mauricio Pochettino, coming close to winning the title last year and now looking to be among the favorites for the prize this year. A move for the former Malaga player would still have issues – the player’s contract demands for one. But it’s not the unimaginable prospect it was not so long ago.
