Liverpool join Chelsea in race to sign star defender

Liverpool have joined the race to sign the in-demand Burnley defender Michael Keane, according to the Daily Star.

Keane received his first England call-up last week as a replacement for the injured Glen Johnson.

The 23-year-old defender came through ranks at Manchester United but failed to break into the senior side. Keane made the move to Turf Moor and his recent form has attracted the attention of the Premier League giants.

Per-the-source, both Liverpool and Arsenal have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Keane. However, the report also states that Burnley are keen to extend their in-demand defender’s contract.

Liverpool are in stunning form of late, racking up four wins in a row and remaining unbeaten in their last seven. Jurgen Klopp’s side sit in forth place in the Premier League with 16 points after seven games.

The Reds will be hoping to keep their winning run going when take on their rivals Manchester United on October 17.
