Real Madrid star pens new deal worth staggering €20m-per-year until 2022

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension, that will reportedly see him earn €20m a year.

Los Blancos confirmed the news on Wednesday, with an official statement that revealed an agreement on the two-year extension had been agreed.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Toni Kroos have come to an agreement on a contract extension which will see the player linked to the club until 30 June 2022,” it read.

However, Bild reported further details of the new contract, and claim that the German international will now double his salary and receive the eye-watering figure above each year.

The 26-year-old has played in 108 games for the Spanish giants, scoring just four goals, but has played an integral role in their midfield under various managers with his vision, range of passing and defensive solidity.

Since moving to Madrid, Kroos has won a Champions League, Club World Cup winners medal along with a European Super Cup too.

In turn, it’s fair to say that it has been a successful partnership between Real and the former Bayern Munich man thus far, and Real were evidently keen on extending it further as they look to maintain their tradition of winning silverware regularly this season and beyond.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are currently second in the La Liga table after seven games, level on points with city rivals Atletico Madrid at the top and two points above Barcelona.

Further, they sit joint-top of Group F in the Champions League along with Borussia Dortmund, and so Kroos along with his teammates will all hope to be in the hunt for the big trophies once again at the business end of the campaign with no contract distractions to be concerned with.
