Chelsea are desperate for defenders, having leaked goals all year, and by the sounds of rumours emerging from Germany, they won’t even be able to rely on having one of the ones they already own back next year.
According to ESPN, Borussia Monchengladbach are “in a position” to sign Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, who has been on loan at the German club for two years, earning rave reviews for his performances in the domestic league and in Europe.
ESPN say that Chelsea are relying on the return of Christensen to replace an aging defence, and will not consider selling him after having had to wait for two years to get him back in the side. If the Blues do indeed want to keep him, its unlikely that Monchengladbach would have the financial power to change the Stamford Bridge club’s mind.
Chelsea have history with BMG, selling Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan to the German club last summer after another successful loan.
