Jurgen Klopp reveals delight as Liverpool boss named Premier League Manager of the Month

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for September after leading the Reds to three consecutive wins.

Following victories over defending champions Leicester City, Chelsea and Hull City, scoring 11 goals in the process, it’s hardly much of a surprise to see the German tactician fend off competition from his rivals at the top of the table.

Nevertheless, he remained delighted with winning the award, and was quick to share the praise with his staff and players both as soon as he heard about the recognition and in terms of their contribution to him winning it for last month.

“I went into the office of my coaches and said ‘we are Manager of the Month!’” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s better than not being in the race. In September we obviously had a few results and performances that were not too bad. But actually, I don’t need personal prizes. It’s nice, but I prefer collecting points to personal prizes.

“I’m fine with the moment but we have to play a few more games. Hopefully we perform well.”

Liverpool face bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Monday night as they look to pick up from where they left off prior to the international break, as their recent run of good form has helped move them up to fourth place in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
