Man Utd transfer news: £25m attacker with dreadful 6.25% strike-rate offered Old Trafford exit plan

Memphis Depay has not made the best of starts in England.

The Manchester United attacker has scored just two goals in 32 Premier League games since signing from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015, giving him a lowly strike-rate of 6.25%.

According to last night’s Man Utd transfer news in The Sun – who claim that the Red Devils paid £25m for Depay – the 22-year-old is poised to be given a lifeline by Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

German tabloid Bild also report that Wolfsburg are interested in the 25-time Holland international.

There is no escaping the fact that Depay has flopped at Old Trafford, but his stats are not as bad as they sound, because exactly half of his league appearances for United have come as substitute cameos.

Despite his poor form domestically, Depay has done alright for United in continental competition, scoring three times in 10 Champions League and Europa League outings.

Wolfsburg are struggling in the Bundesliga so far this season. With just six points, Dieter Hecking’s side are 13th in the table after six rounds of fixtures.
