Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has sent a heartfelt message to his star midfielder Willian Borges.
The 28-year-old was given compassionate leave and was absent for this weekend’s clash with Leicester City following the death of his mother.
Conte stated that he dedicated Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City to Willian and his family.
Chelsea shared a photo of Conte on their official Instagram page along with the caption, “‘I want to dedicate the win to @willianborges88 and his family because we know it’s a very sad moment for him, and for us, because we are all very close.’ – Antonio Conte.”
The Blues have allowed Willian to take as much time as he needs to deal with his loss. The Brazil international will be welcomed back to action having scored twice in six appearances so far this season.
Chelsea moved up to sixth place after defeating last seasons Premier League champions in emphatic fashion. Conte’s side face a tough task next weekend when they host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have suffered defeats against both Liverpool and Arsenal so far this season and will be hoping to avoid a hat-trick of loses against the leagues ‘big boys.’
