Chelsea got a great result yesterday, with midfielder N’Golo Kante impressing in particular against reigning champions Leicester.
Kante was at the heart of all that was good for his side, performing 7 tackles and 5 interceptions in defense and contributing 2 key passes in attack. Kante was near and efficient on and off the ball, linking well with his partner Nemanja Matic at the heart of Chelsea’s new 343 formation.
The new system worked well and the Blues made short work of Leicester, who didn’t put up much of a fight. Without their former player Kante their pressing of their opposition was weak, and their midfield was overrun.
Kante’s surge into the box lead to one of his side’s goals, and he was consistently able to run past opposing midfielders, creating space in Leicester’s deep defensive block. This was the exact kind of performance Chelsea were looking for when they signed the France star.
