Barcelona vs Manchester City confirmed line-ups: Aguero benched while ‘MSN’ lead hosts

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will start on the bench as his side take on Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night.

Kevin De Bruyne is expected to start in the ‘false nine’ role for the visitors, with Raheem Sterling and Nolito flanking him on the wings, and with David Silva likely to take his usual position through the middle.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has gone with a midfield of Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan to provide his defence with protection, as he looks to enjoy a successful trip back to his former club in this highly-anticipated Champions League showdown between the pair.

As for the hosts, Lionel Messi starts alongside Luis Suarez and Neymar in the familiar and feared attacking trident for the Catalan giants otherwise known as ‘MSN’.

Elsewhere, it will be down to Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti to provide a solid base for their side and counter the issues that the likes of De Bruyne and Sterling will create for them with their movement and pace.

Aguero will undoubtedly hope to feature at some point in the night, but it will have to be off the bench as Guardiola makes a big call in picking the side that he believes will give them the best chance to come away from Barcelona with a positive result.
