Robin van Persie will return to Old Trafford on Thursday evening when Fenerbahce take on Manchester United in the Europa League.
The Fenerbahce star revealed in his pre-match conference that he could have stayed at United had Sir Alex Ferguson stayed on.
Van Persie stated that when he signed for United the plan was for Ferguson to stay on for another few seasons. The prolific striker played a key role in winning the Premier League for a record 20th time but Ferguson retired the following season and Van Persie’s role in the side diminished once Louis van Gaal took the helm.
