Tottenham Hotspur will go top of the Premier League – if only for a few hours – for the first time this season if they win away to Bournemouth in Saturday’s 12.30pm kickoff.

Spurs, who beat Bournemouth 5-1 and 3-0 last term, are the only side yet to lose in this season’s Prem, although they start the weekend behind Manchester City and Arsenal in the league table on account of winning fewer matches.

Five of the eight goals Spurs put past Bournemouth in the 2015-16 campaign came from the feet of Harry Kane, who misses this match as he continues to recover from an ankle injury suffered against Sunderland in September.

And it is in attack where Spurs have struggled slightly in recent weeks – Mauricio Pochettino’s side have only scored more than one goal in four of their 12 matches this season.

At the other end, Tottenham have been terrific, keeping seven clean sheets and conceding just six times.

However, that fine defensive record could be tested at the Vitality Stadium, where Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth put six goals past Hull City last weekend.

Bournemouth v Tottenham team news

Bournemouth could stay unchanged following their 6-1 win over Hull, while Spurs are likely to rotate following a midweek Champions League trip to Germany, where they drew 0-0 with Bayer Leverkusen.

With Kane out, Pochettino must choose between Vincent Janssen and Son Heung-min to lead his attack, while Eric Dier should continue at centre-back with Toby Alderweireld out due to a knee problem that is not as serious as originally feared.

Confirmed starting lineups will appear here as soon as they are announced at 11.30am.

Spurs XI: Lloris (C); Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Wanyama, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Dele; Son.
Spurs subs: Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Wimmer, Winks, Sissoko, Janssen.
