(Video) Arsenal hugely relieved as star man insists he would ignore Barcelona interest

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has insisted that he “wouldn’t pick up the phone” if he received a call from former club Barcelona any time soon.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Arsene Wenger’s side over the last year or so, having now made 82 appearances for the Gunners since making his debut in 2013.

Having now also broken into the Spain national team while playing a pivotal role in Arsenal’s push for silverware this season, Bellerin has quickly put his name in the conversation of who the best right-back in world football is.

However, as noted by the Metro, he has consistently been linked with a return to Barcelona after coming through the club’s youth system before moving to England in 2011, while Manchester City have also been paired with an interest.

As seen in the video below though, the Spaniard was asked as part of an interview with DW Channel what he would do if he received a phone call from Barcelona. His response was: “I won’t pick up the phone”, before laughing.

Wenger and Arsenal supporters alike will be desperate to see Bellerin remain part of the team for many more years to come, and would be left hugely disappointed if he opted to leave in the more immediate future.

Although it was a relaxed and informal interview, it still gave an indication as to where his thoughts lie when it comes to his future with the Gunners, and it will be welcomed by all connected to Arsenal. Skip to the 10 minute 30 seconds mark to hear what he had to say about Barca…
