Chelsea winger Pedro has admitted that he had contact with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu before the start of this season.
The story, reported at Goal, quotes Pedro as saying that he “talked with Bartomeu”, although the winger is keen to stress that the talks never got beyond an early stage. The Blaugrana ended up buying Paco Alcacer from Valencia for big money.
Pedro has struggled at Chelsea since joining late last summer. His performances have been almost universally poor, and he has frustrated Chelsea fans time and again with sloppy play and poor decision-making. Many would have been more than happy to see the Spaniard shipped back to Barcelona no questions asked.
His unquestioned best moment for the Blues came last Sunday, when he sped behind the United back four after just thirty seconds and kept his head to find the net.
If he can keep up that sort of form for Antonio Conte, this season will be a big improvement on last.
