Arsenal winger breaks his record for goals scored in a single season

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had already equaled his best ever scoring tally in an Arsenal shirt for a single season when he gave his side the lead against Reading in the EFL Cup clash on Tuesday evening.

The 23-year-old’s best scoring tally until today was during his first season at the Gunners back in 2011-12 after joining from Southampton.

Chamberlain broke his own record by bagging a brace against Reading to take his season tally to five.

The England international is likely to shatter his previous record considering we are not even half way through the season yet.

The Gunners went onto beat Reading 2-0 at home in what was their 14th consecutive victory over the Championship based outfit.

Chamberlain has struggled to establish himself as a first-team player this season playing just 43 minutes of Premier League football in Arsenal’s last three league games.

The winger does have 11 appearances this season but most have been as substitute appearances off the bench.

It remains to be seen if his display against Reading has convinced head coach Arsene Wenger to play him on the weekend against Sunderland.
