Pep Guardiola officially in the worst run of his managerial career after United defeat

Manchester City have been eliminated from the EFL Cup after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Manchester United.

Juan Mata’s second-half goal was enough to take United over the line and into the quarter-finals. Unfortunately for City, they’ll have to watch the next round on T.V.

The loss will be a bitter pill to swallow for City supporters, but even more so for manager Pep Guardiola, as he set a new career record tonight.

As reported by Miguel Delaney of ESPN, Guardiola is now on the longest win-less run of his career. His side’s last victory came against Swansea on the 24th of December. Since then they have failed to beat Celtic, Tottenham, Everton, Barcelona, Southampton and Manchester United. There are some very tough fixtures in there, but he’ll no doubt be disappointed not to have picked up at least one victory.

It perhaps says it all about the Spaniard, that City are still top of the Premier League as he sets new, negative records for himself.
