West Ham star midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate scored the opening goal against Chelsea in the EFL Cup at the London stadium.
The powerful midfielder became the first player to score against the Blues since they switched for a 3-4-3 setup ending 282 minutes of football without conceding in the process.
Chelsea went into the clash having won their last four games and not conceding a single goal over the course of their winning streak including a 4-0 victory over Manchester United last weekend.
Kouyate had himself not scored for the Hammers since August and ended a 10 game run without finding the back of the net following his header against Chelsea.
We took a look at how West Ham fans reacted to the goal on social media.
Kouyate was described by Sean Allen as being his ‘favourite guy’.

We are not quite sure what David James meant with the beans on toast quote but he was obviously impressive with the header.

Kouyate had come under a bit of stick over his last few games but his goal against Chelsea will go someway to restoring his relationship with the fans.
Let's be straight. Kouyate has been missing in recent games…..well how about that for an incredible impact on the game? #COYI

@Haribolap1388 Kouyate out of midfield has been a godsend. I love the guy when in top form but when he's poor he's a ghost.

Is he better than Paul Pogba?
Cheikhou Kouyate is everything Manchester United fans think Paul Pogba is
