Lucas Perez injury to see Arsenal star miss nine games including Man United and Tottenham Hotspur showdowns

A Lucas Perez injury blow spoiled Arsenal’s night on Tuesday as the Gunners no.9 limped off during their 2-0 win over Reading in the EFL Cup.

The 28-year-old striker was removed in the 72nd minute with a knee injury, which will now see him ruled out for the next six weeks, according to The Guardian.

Six weeks on the sidelines means Perez will miss Arsenal’s next nine matches, including next month’s North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Perez must also sit out Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United in the Premier League, plus three European nights and December’s EFL Cup quarter-final against Southampton.

Lucas was making just his third Arsenal start on Tuesday.

In all competitions he has scored twice in his first six appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men, with both of his goals coming in a 4-0 win at Nottingham Forest earlier in the EFL Cup campaign.
