Chelsea star believes that his side are “a long way away” from winning the title

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed that he feels his side are “a long way away” from winning the Premier League title. report the Express.

Chelsea are hovering narrowly behind the top four in the Premier League, but as the Express report, the Spaniard isn’t getting ahead of himself: “Even though we are one point off the lead it still feels like we are a long way away.”

That deficit has now been extended to four points after Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all won today. Chelsea face Southampton at St. Mary’s tomorrow in hope of keeping pace with their rivals.

Azpilicueta has been converted to a centre-back by Antonio Conte in his bid to fix Chelsea’s faltering defence. By trade the 27-year-old is a right-back, but he was fielded at left-back by Jose Mourinho and made that position his own.

A role in the middle of the defence promises a new challenge for Azpilicueta, but he has answered every question posed to him in that role so far. He will be hoping for more of the same on a personal level tomorrow.
