Manchester United target who scored 59 goals last campaign set to sign contract extension

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set to sign a contract extension at Barcelona, report AS.

The Spanish site report that the La Liga giants are close to announcing that Suarez has extended his current deal until 2021. They believe that there are just a few “minor details” to sort out before it becomes official.

Don Balon reported a few days ago that Manchester United were lining up a world-record £135 million bid to try and entice the Uruguayan back to the Premier League. They did note, though, that Suarez’s desire was to continue at the Camp Nou, and news of this extension suggests he’s going to do just that.

Suarez scored a monstrous 59 goals in 53 games in all competitions for Barca last season. His goal-scoring exploits have put him among the front-runners for the 2017 Balon D’Or.

In just two years at Barcelona, he has won both La Liga and the Copa del Rey on two occasions, as well as the Champions League, Supercopa de Espana, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. If the illustrious ‘MSN’ trio continue to be as destructive as they have been since their inception, he will no doubt add plenty more to his trophy cabinet.
