Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all in race to sign 15-year-old Scottish wonderkid

Every so often there’s a young star for the future that every top club in England wants, and Billy Gilmour of Rangers appears to be the latest.

According to The Sun, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all sent scouts to watch the 15-year-old in action in Scotland’s Victory Shield campaign.

Gilmour produced an impressive performance in his side’s 2-0 win over Northern Ireland on Sunday, and as noted in the report, he is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Scotland.

As a result, it’s no surprise that the scouting networks from the leading Premier League clubs have all been alerted to him, and it has in turn sparked somewhat of a transfer battle between those teams mentioned above to secure his signature.

It’s claimed in the report that Rangers would want £3m for the young midfielder, while it will take some doing to convince his family that the move makes sense as it’s added that they are keen to see him remain at Ibrox and continue his development there.

Given the facilities and history of developing young talent, it will be difficult to turn down any of the teams in question from the Premier League. However, the issue will arise as to whether or not he gets enough opportunities to play and improve himself given the level of competition at every level.

Staying at Rangers would therefore seem like a sensible option at this point, but based on what scouts have seen thus far and the talent that he possesses, it may not be too long before he moves south of the border.
