Ibrahimovic equals former Manchester United striker’s inefficiency record

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s misfiring performance against Burnley at the weekend was only the second time in the last 13 Premier League seasons that a player has had 11 or more shots at goal without finding the back of the net, report Sky Sports.

Sky Sports reveal that the last player to put in a performance as inefficient as Ibrahimovic was Robin Van Persie against Wolves in 2011. Van Persie had 12 attempts at goal without getting on the score-sheet that day.

The Dutchman, who later moved to Manchester United, scored 30 Premier League goals that campaign. The next season he scored 26 times as United won their 20th Premier League title.

There are doubts as to whether Ibrahimovic can replicate that sort of goal-scoring form anymore. He has now gone six league games without scoring, his worst domestic drought for over a decade. The quality of his all-round game has also noticeably declined.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping for better performances from the big Swede in the upcoming weeks, as his side look to keep the pace with their rivals.
