Real Madrid winger is reportedly the best-paid player in the world after signing a new deal

Gareth Bale’s new Real Madrid contract will see him pocket an eye-watering £350,000-a-week after tax, according to The Guardian.

Bale recently extended his contract with the European champions until 2022, and The Guardian believe he is now the best-paid footballer in the world.

His contract is understood to be worth £600,000-a-week before tax and £350,000-a-week after it. There is also believed to be a £900 million buy-out clause in his deal to ward off any potential interest from elsewhere.

The Welshman has scored 50 La Liga goals in 90 appearances in Madrid. He may have lost his title of the world’s most expensive player to Paul Pogba in the summer, but this new contract suggests he is still able to demand obscene figures for his services.

In just three seasons in Madrid, Bale lifted the Champions League twice, as well as the Copa del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. The pivotal role he has played in Real’s success in recent years makes it a price worth paying.
