Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi had a bust-up with the Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai during his side’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, according to the Mirror.

Per-the-source, the Argentina international was furious with Kassai over a refused penalty appeal in the first half.

The report goes onto say that Messi ‘lost the plot’ and continued his tirade after the final whistle.

The Mirror also states that the Turkey international Arda Turan is also confronted the referee about the decision following the final whistle.

Following the final whistle, Man City striker Sergio Aguero admitted Messi was fuming after the game.

“Whenever you lose you’re not very happy. I saw him there, he was feeling bad. I know him well enough to know when he’s bad, when he’s good. But when you lose, nobody’s good,” Aguero was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

Barcelona remain at the top of Group C despite yesterday evening’s result while Manchester city move into second place with seven points after four games.

Pep Guardiola’s side take on the newly promoted Middlesbrough in the Premier League this weekend. Meanwhile Barcelona face Sevilla in the Spaish League on Sunday.
