Manchester United will put their Premier League woes to one side later this evening when they travel to Turkey to face Fenerbahce in the Europa league.
Jose Mourinho’s men have endured a difficult few weeks with draws with Liverpool and Burnley sandwiched in between a heavy 4-0 defeat to Chelsea.
While the league form has dipped recently they remain on course to reach the knock out stages in Europe and will move top of the group with a win in Turkey.
United won 4-1 when they met at Old Trafford two weeks ago and will head into the clash as slight favourites despite the no doubt hostile environment they will face.
In fact should they win in Sukru Saracoglu they would need just a draw from the two remaining matches against Feyenoord and Zorya Luhansk to secure qualification.
Mourinho will be without Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, James Wilson and Phil Jones for the trip to Turkey while Anthony Martial and Chris Smalling should be fit.
Wayne Rooney is expected to return to the starting XI while one man who won’t be playing is Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The World cup winner was pictured training with the first team on Monday morning but won’t feature on Thursday due to his omission from the club’s Europa League squad that was submitted earlier this season.
Fenerbahce meanwhile has enjoyed a nicer build up to the game.
The Turkish club have been boosted by consecutive league wins over Konyaspor and Karabukspor since the defeat at Old Trafford.
Robin Van Persie, a scorer in the first fixture, scored twice in the defeat of Karabukspor last time out and will hope to inflict more misery on his former employers.
The last time these two met in Turkey, Fenerbahce ran out 3-0 winners in a Champions league game in 2004.
With United quick out of the blocks the last time these sides met, racing to a 4-0 lead, the 6/5 offered on the Manchester away win looks a difficult price to ignore all things considered, and is sure to attract plenty of interest.
Former United man Robin Van Persie also looks a pretty decent price of 6/1 to bag the first goal of the game, with the Dutchman amongst the goals in recent fixtures.
It should prove to be an intriguing game, with Mourinho desperate for a confidence boost after a lacklustre couple of months for the Red Devils.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks a frustrated figure up front, and this type of game may be a good opportunity to get the Swede amongst the goals again.
This one kicks off at 18:00 GMT.
