Arsenal put an end to Barcelona interest in key man as new deal will be signed in next fortnight

Arsenal have reportedly warded off Barcelona over Hector Bellerin by informing the Catalan giants that he will sign a new deal with the club.

The 21-year-old has firmly established himself as a pivotal part of the Gunners line-up over the last two years, and Arsene Wenger will undoubtedly be desperate to keep him at the club for years to come.

However, speculation had continued to link former club Barcelona with a move for the Spanish international and in turn caused concern that he may well opt to return home.

According to Sport, that will not happen as Arsenal have told Barca to forget about their interest in the player, as he will sign a renewal with them within the next week or two.

In turn, the report claims that the La Liga champions have already started looking elsewhere to solve their issues at right back and so perhaps the speculation regarding Bellerin will now come to an end.

The pacy Spaniard has now made 82 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, and has come a long way since making his debut for the club in 2013.

Having developed his defensive abilities to combine them with his pace and energy to get up and down the right flank, Wenger will hope that he has convinced him to commit his future to the Gunners for many more years as they look to continue their excellent start to this season.

With a quality core of players now in place coupled with strength in depth, many are starting to believe that this could be Arsenal’s best chance at ending their Premier League title drought in years.
