London rivals respond to speculation Chelsea stalwart set for shock switch across city

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has insisted that there is “no interest at all” from the club in Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

As reported by The Mirror earlier this week, it was claimed that the Eagles were interested in swopping for the veteran defender.

Ivanovic is out of contract next summer and with doubts over his ability to force his way back into the Chelsea line-up between now and the end of the season, it has led to speculation over his future.

However, as noted by Palace’s official Twitter account, Pardew isn’t interested in the 32-year-old and has insisted that it’s merely a rumour made up by the media.

Ivanovic has spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge and established himself as a key figure in the club’s success over a number of years.

However, with age not on his side and with Antonio Conte looking at a back three currently consisting of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill which has brought him four consecutive Premier League clean sheets and four wins, it doesn’t look as though the Serbian international will be given an opportunity to prove his worth any time soon.

With Palace seemingly out of the running, time will tell as to whether or not another club offers him a new challenge elsewhere.
