Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has had the luxury of working with both current head coach Pep Guardiola and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Premier League leaders City and third placed Liverpool both have 23 points with only goal difference separating them.

Gundogan revealed that he enjoyed his time at Dortmund playing under the stewardship of Klopp and the 2013 Champions League run to the final.

The Germany international did however, underline that his current manager Guardiola suits his playing style more.

Gundogan was quoted by the Sun as saying: “I enjoyed it in Dortmund.

“That year at Borussia Dortmund, which was a boost for every single player and for Jurgen as a manager, that we just handled it to go to the final.

“Now I enjoy it here. I love to have the ball, pass it to teammates and receive it back.

“So the type of football we play here suits me perfectly – I am very comfortable with that.”

Gundogan played a starring role in City’s 3-1 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League mid-week scoring a brace.

The 25-year-old has now provided a brace in his last two consecutive games and is expected to feature for City against Middlesbrough on the weekend.

The City midfielder now has five goals and two assists in 10 appearances for the Premier League leaders in all competitions this season.
