Man United midfielder who has made 121 appearances for his country a target for Everton

Everton boss Ronaldo Koeman is interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to the Daily Star.

The Daily Star report that Koeman will decide when the transfer window reopens in January whether to make a move for the veteran, with a loan deal until the end of the season a possible option.

Schweinsteiger has been hugely out of favour at Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho choosing to omit him from his Premier League squad. If the Daily Star are to be believed, Everton could be ready to free him from his suffering at Old Trafford.

There are few more experienced and decorated players in world football than Schweinsteiger. In his career he has made 566 club appearances, as well as being capped 121 times for his country. He has also won 23 major honours, including eight Bundesliga titles, the Champions League and the World Cup.

After Koeman’s side showed their naivety during a 5-0 battering away at Chelsea, they could certainly do with someone like Schweinsteiger to steady the ship in the dressing room.
