Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a new contract at Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until June 2021, according to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail report that a new five-year-deal that will keep the former Manchester United star at the Bernabeu until he is 36 could be announced within the next 24 hours.
Ronaldo joined the La Liga giants in 2009 for a then world-record fee. In his time in Madrid so far he has scored 371 goals in 359 appearances; his goal-scoring consistency defies belief. He also played an integral role in both of Real’s Champions League triumphs in the past three years, as well as captaining Portugal to European Championship success in the summer.
Zinedine Zidane will no doubt be delighted if he is able to tie Ronaldo down to a new deal. Everything the Portuguese touches appears to turn to gold. He could also have his hands on a fourth Ballon d’Or in January if the voters see him as worthy.
He is starting for Real Madrid right now in their La Liga clash with Leganes. He had a great chance to open the scoring but uncharacteristically blasted it over the crossbar.
