(Video) Kevin Wimmer own goal howler gifts Arsenal lead as Tottenham fall behind

Arsenal head into the half-time interval of the north London derby against Tottenham with a 1-0 lead after a Kevin Wimmer own goal.

The visitors started brightly and looked threatening, with the returning Harry Kane missing a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock as he found himself free in the box but sent his header agonisingly wide.

Arsenal grew into the game and started to pose more of a problem to the Spurs backline, with Theo Walcott thumping an effort off the post with Mesut Ozil sending a wild effort over the bar from the rebound.

However, the German international made up for it just minutes later with a quality delivery into the box from an Arsenal free kick with Wimmer having to make contact with it in a bid to send it over the bar.

Unfortunately for the Spurs defender he could only direct it into the corner past the outstretched hand of Hugo Lloris as the home faithful celebrated the opening goal of the game.

Both sides had chances and were generally well matched, but it’s Wimmer’s own goal that’s the difference at half-time in Sunday’s showdown in north London.
