Tottenham battle Premier League rivals for £12.5m Manchester United outcast

Tottenham and Crystal Palace are reportedly set for a transfer battle over £12.5m-rated Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French international is amongst a sizeable group of players at Old Trafford who have struggled for playing time under Jose Mourinho so far this season.

In turn, according to The Express, it’s claimed that Tottenham are in a race with Palace to end his disappointing spell at United and will make their move in January with Jose Mourinho wanting £12.5m for the former Southampton man.

It’s claimed in the report that Mauricio Pochettino had an offer turned down by the Red Devils in August, which instead saw him move for Moussa Sissoko who joined Victor Wanyama as a summer recruit to bolster the Spurs midfield.

As a result, it’s questionable as to whether or not they need another midfielder in there regardless of their busy schedule both at home and in Europe this season.

In contrast, Alan Pardew will be desperate to strengthen his squad with more quality where possible as they have endured a difficult start to the campaign.

Palace are currently 16th in the Premier League table after collecting just 11 points from their opening 11 games and they sit just a point above the bottom three.

The addition of Schneiderlin could add some much needed solidity to their midfield, but it appears as though they will have stiff competition to fend off with the Frenchman’s time at Old Trafford seemingly set to come to an end sooner rather than later.
