Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is very much on the comeback trail after he completed 90 minutes for the Under-23s side on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman has been out of action since suffering a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury against Manchester United in February.

However, he took a hugely positive step this week after playing for 90 minutes for the club’s Under-23s side against Oxford United in their Checka-Trade Southern Group C clash.

Evidently pleased with his night’s work, Zouma took to Instagram to share his joy as he looks to continue his recovery and push for a place in the first-team before long.

It’s been a slow progression for Zouma having featured for 45 minutes and an hour in previous outings, but with a full match under his belt, he’ll now be more confident moving forward.

However, he will find it tough to break into Antonio Conte’s side, given that Chelsea have now won five consecutive Premier League games without conceding a single goal.

Having switched to a back three in a 3-4-3 system, the Italian has settled on Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as his defensive trio, but it will be up to Zouma to join John Terry in providing stiff competition for places in the months ahead.
