Arsenal handed timely injury boost as Wenger set to welcome back injured ace early

Arsenal forward Lucas Perez is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury and could return ahead of schedule.

The Spaniard has been out of action since picking up the issue in the EFL Cup win over Reading at the end of October, and was expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

However, as confirmed on his official Twitter account as seen below, he has revealed that he’s making excellent progress and expects to be back early.

The 28-year-old has been given permission by the Gunners to return to former club Deportivo La Coruna to continue his rehabilitation, and whatever the La Liga outfit have done with him seems to be working as he envisages being back soon.

Wenger will remain a little apprehensive until he knows for sure that Perez is fully fit and ready to return, but it’s undoubtedly a boost for the French tactician.

Alexis Sanchez has suffered a muscular injury on international duty with Chile and it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be sidelined for a significant period of time.

Further, Hector Bellerin has suffered an ankle injury which could rule him out for the rest of November, and so the injuries are seemingly piling up for Wenger right now at a really bad time as they look to maintain their strong start to the campaign.

Perez scored three goals and provided four assists in seven appearances in all competitions in limited playing time prior to his setback, and so evidently he’ll be a major boost for Wenger to have back available and will hope to pick up from where he left off and play a decisive role for the Gunners.
