Real Madrid transfer news: Marcus Rashford targeted by Los Blancos but ban could keep him at Man United for now

This week’s juiciest piece of Real Madrid transfer news comes courtesy of diarioMadridista.com.

According to the Spanish website, Los Blancos are targeting Manchester United teenager Marcus Rashford.

The England star, who turned 19 last month, is reportedly “in the crosshairs of Real Madrid”.

Rashford is arguably the best player in the world for his age.

However, he is still a long way off being good enough to command a regular place in the Real starting XI.

Rashford has scored three Premier League goals this season at a rate of one every 192 minutes. That record is not at all bad, but it falls way below the La Liga ratios of Karim Benzema (116 minutes per goal), Alvaro Morata (134 minutes per goal), Cristiano Ronaldo (136 minutes per goal) and Gareth Bale (170 minutes per goal).

It would be a surprise if Rashford – whose current United contract runs until June 2020 – opted to leave Old Trafford this season.

Or course, Real are unable to sign players until January 2018 anyway, as the result of a transfer ban.

But if Rashford continues to develop his game steadily, one suspects the La Liga giants will still be interested by then.
