Alex Iwobi wants to stay at Arsenal for ‘many years’ and would even reject La Liga giants Barcelona according to his father, as reported by AfricanFootball.
The 20-year-old has been at Arsenal since 2004, and AfricanFootball quote his father in suggesting his son will not be leaving the Emirates any time soon: “I see him being in Arsenal for very many, many years.”
AfricanFootball also quote his father in claiming even a club of Barcelona’s stature would still fail in convincing him to leave the Gunners: “So, should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay back at Arsenal.”
Iwobi was given an opportunity to shine in the first-team last campaign by Arsene Wenger, and he duly delivered. He’s also featured in nine of Arsenal’s opening 11 Premier League games this campaign, a testament to how he has become an integral part of Wenger’s squad.
Arsenal have a plethora of quality in attack, so for Iwobi to break into the first-team and be used regularly at such a young age is quite an achievement.
The Gunners faithful should rest easy, as it doesn’t appear their Nigerian prodigy will be going anywhere anytime soon.
