Leicester star who scored 17 league goals last season targeted by Italian giants

AC Milan have approached Leicester about the possibility of signing winger Riyad Mahrez, report Italian site Calciomercato.

Calciomercato report that Milan are in the market to strengthen their attack and Mahrez is high on their wishlist. They believe that the Serie A giants’ sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has travelled to Leicester to watch him in the flesh.

Mahrez was named PFA Player of the year last season after playing a starring role in Leicester’s unlikely title triumph. The Algerian scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances, directly contributing to a goal every 108 minutes in the Premier League.

He has had a steady start to this season, he has just the solitary goal and assist after eleven games, but has continued to display his star quality in the Foxes’ Champions League campaign.

Calciomercato do note, however, that Leicester are extremely reluctant to sell Mahrez, either in January or the summer transfer window.
