It is all but confirmed that Arsenal will be without Santi Cazorla for Saturday’s game against Manchester United.
The Spanish midfielder has been absent for a month now after getting an Achilles injury in the middle of Arsenal’s 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets.
And quotes posted by Sky Sports all but confirm the Oviedo born player will miss this weekend’s crunch game.
“I still don’t know the exact time,” said the 31-year-old.
“I am trying to return as soon as possible to be with the team again, but I cannot say if it will be soon, or if I still have a few weeks left.
Not exactly promising news. In fact it throws doubt on whether the diminutive midfielder will be available in the next few weeks at all. With the huge game against United being followed with a crunch midweek tie against PSG, it’s a bitter blow for Arsenal fans. Cazorla is a vital tempo setter for the team, and provides a huge amount of control from the middle of the pitch.
On the bright side, Aaron Ramsey is back and fit and playing for Wales over the international break. The midfielder should be able to slot back into the side to cover in his teammate’s absence.
