It’s been a bad week for Wayne Rooney. Manchester United’s poor performances had lead to him getting another chance in the team – which he took. He then played well for England too, and looked to be on the verge of turning his season around.
However now it looks as though an ill chosen night out may have put all that hard work to waste, and may have even more damaging long term implications on his future at United.
Today’s Mirror reports that Rooney’s night on the lash after England-Scotland has cost him in Jose Mourinho’s team for this Saturday’s game against Arsenal. His manager is apparently “furious”, and will play Marcus Rashford up front – even with Zlatan Ibrahimovic out suspended.
It’s a huge shame for Rooney that he has messed up this ideal opportunity to get back into his manager’s plans. How long it takes Mourinho to forgive the striker – if he forgives him at all that is – will be something to keep an eye on.
