England star Danny Rose will have to watch Chelsea v Tottenham from the sidelines next weekend after the Spurs defender was issued with an automatic one-game ban for picking up five yellow cards.
Rose’s fifth booking in eight domestic games came during Saturday’s clash with West Ham United.
With Rose now unavailable for Tottenham’s trip to Stamford Bridge, Ben Davies will likely make his fifth Premier League appearance of the season.
Davies has been a regular for Spurs in cup games this term, so he had been expected to feature against AS Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
However, with the Welshman now in line take Rose’s place in the team at Chelsea four days later, the Spurs left-backs could have their roles reversed in midweek.
Whoever plays against Monaco will have to be at their best. Spurs need to beat the Ligue 1 outfit in order to avoid elimination from Europe’s premier club competition.
