Manchester City hit with injury blow as star is injured by his own player

Manchester City have been hit with an injury blow after captain Vincent Kompany was taken off during their Premier League game against Crystal Palace today.

Kompany has missed the bulk of City’s game in the past year with various muscular injuries. This one, though, cannot be attributed to how injury prone the Belgian is. He tracked the run of Palace’s Jason Puncheon as the ball was played into the penalty area, but collided with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and stayed down with a head injury.

The City medical staff deemed him fit to carry on, but ten minutes later he was replaced by Pablo Zabaleta. BBC Sport claim that the 30-year-old was suffering with blurred vision, and it was decided that he could no longer continue.

It’s the latest of several injury setbacks for Kompany, who appeared to be beginning to find his feet under the management of Pep Guardiola. We hope that it’s nothing too serious and he makes a speedy recovery.
