Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside stadium to move into first place in the Premier League.
Blues star striker scored the only goal of the game just four minutes before the half-time whistle reacting first to a goal mouth scramble to poke the ball past the line.
Costa has now scored 10 goals and provided three assists for Chelsea in the league this season.
