Manchester United outcasts given rare start in Europa League

The BBC are reporting that Man United outcasts Henrik Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw will both start against Feyenoord tonight.

The pair will get a chance to show what they can do in the Europa League after both being the subject of their manager’s ire.

Mkhitaryan has yet to complete 90 minutes for United since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer; while Shaw was playing regularly until irritating his boss by refusing to play through injury.

It would be premature to say that these players are enjoying their last chances – Manchester United’s season simply isn’t going well enough for Jose to start writing players off – but for Mkhitaryan especially, game time has been hard to come by and he may not get more opportunities. If United fail to win tonight they will probably be eliminated from the Europa League, which really would limit his chances. Unlike with Shaw, Mourinho has plenty of players in Mkhitaryan’s position, and another missed opportunity tonight really could be the end of the road for the Armenian.

No pressure then, Henrikh…
