Chelsea dealt transfer blow as Italian giants plot £128M spending spree

Inter Milan are plotting a move for PSG midfield maestro Marco Verratti, according to Corriere dello Sport, as reported by the Express.

The Express cite the Italian website in reporting that Inter’s incoming Chinese owners are prepared to bankroll a £128 million spending spree in the summer transfer window. It is reported that Inter would be keen on bringing in Verratti who, according to the Express, is a target for Chelsea.

Antonio Conte worked closely with Verratti during his time with the Italian national team. Perhaps seeing his immense quality in the flesh has sparked his interest in the 24-year-old.

Chelsea’s midfield duo of Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante has been functioning near-flawlessly in recent weeks, and it would seem nonsensical to part them. However, Verratti has proved himself at PSG as one of the most accomplished midfielders in the world, and thus would be an improvement to any side.

If Corrier dello Sport are to be believed, though, Chelsea could be set to miss out to Inter.
