It doesn’t look good for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho after he was stretchered off during his side’s clash with Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday.
The Brazilian international appeared to sustain what looked to be a serious ankle injury, but it remains to be seen what further tests reveal in terms of the extent of the damage.
Nevertheless, BBC pundit Martin Keown and BT Sport panelist Jermaine Jenas were both watching proceedings at Anfield from their respective studios, and both were concerned that it could well be a major setback for Liverpool.
Images of the collision suggest that it could be serious too, and so there will certainly be an anxious wait for Liverpool supporters and Jurgen Klopp to determine how long they could be without their influential playmaker.
The 24-year-old has six goals and six assists in 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and as a key cog in the way in which Klopp’s side play, he’ll certainly be a major loss if ruled out for a lengthy period of time.
It is really worrying injury news for Liverpool.
