Manchester United show just how little they care about £14m

Ajax’s sporting director Marc Overmars has revealed just how little modern clubs care about the millions of pounds they spend by revealing that Manchester United conducted the entirety of Daley Blind’s transfer vie email.

According to the Mail, a £14m transfer was not considered worthy of one face to face meeting between United and Ajax, raising questions about the due diligence being put in to transfers which are funded by money coming from the pockets of supporters.

Blind has been a good signing for United, playing at centre back and in midfield regularly for Louis Van Gaal, the man who signed him so casually, and for Jose Mourinho.

His versatility has been his downfall too though, and the Dutchman has never really been able to lock down one position in the side as his own. While he can be relied upon for a 7/10 performance most weeks, he will rarely do better.

With Jose Mourinho finally seeming to find some consistency in his lineups, Red Devils fans will be hoping that Blind is one of the players to benefit from playing in a more settled side.
