Antonio Conte to reward Chelsea revelation with new contract to fend off Barcelona

Chelsea ace Victor Moses will reportedly start contract talks with the club after speculation last week linked him with a move to Barcelona.

The 25-year-old seemingly had no future at Stamford Bridge not so long ago after being sent out on various loan spells, but he has been a player transformed this season.

Under Antonio Conte, Moses has been deployed as a right wing-back and has scored three goals and provided an assist in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season, while also generally impressing with his level of play.

As noted by Sky Sports, his impressive form has led to surprise interest from Barcelona, and Chelsea are seemingly going to waste no time in ensuring he signs a new long-term deal with his current contract running until 2019.

Moses has been a hugely important part of Conte’s side as they have now rattled off seven consecutive wins in the Premier League to sit top of the table, and according to Sky Sports, the Nigerian international has impressed technical director Michael Emenalo too in his new role to warrant new contract talks.

Barcelona have their issues at right back after losing Dani Alves this past summer, and the Catalan giants ultimately haven’t replaced the Brazilian veteran.

In turn, Luis Enrique will be looking to act in the transfer market, but it won’t be Moses who he brings in to solve the problem if he indeed now goes on to pen a new deal with Chelsea.

The former Crystal Palace star deserves plenty of credit for the way in which he has adapted to his new role under Conte, and provided he can continue at his current level, then he’ll play a pivotal role in his side’s pursuit of silverware this season.
