Chelsea currently top of the Premier League table, but that does not mean the Blues are in for a quiet January. Check out the latest Chelsea transfer news right here…
Juventus are reportedly keen to sign Branislav Ivanovic in January.
The Serbian defender’s current Chelsea contract expires in June, which means Juve could arrange to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
However, The Telegraph claim that the Italian champions want to bring him in sooner, rather than later, as a consequence of injuries to Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci.
Ivanovic, who has started less than half of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season, could be added to Juve’s Champions League squad as he has not played in European competition with the Blues this term.
While one defender is linked with a move away from Chelsea, Hoffenheim centre-back Hoffenheim Niklas Sule is said to be on the Blues wanted list.
According to ESPN, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has a number of targets, including Burnley’s Michael Keane, Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Roma’s Antonio Rudiger, but Sule is his preferred option.
Sule, 21, has already played in a Conte-like 3-4-3 system this season with his current club, who sit fifth in the Bundesliga table.
Sule’s Hoffenheim are unbeaten so far this season, after narrowly beating relegation last term. They have shocked fans and bookies alike with their start to the 2016-17 campaign. Chelsea back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is wanted by London rivals West Ham United.
The 29-year-old, who was signed from Stoke City in July 2015, has not played a minute of Premier League action under Conte, as he has been restricted to EFL Cup appearances.
According to Bleacher Report insider Dean Jones, West Ham want a new no.1 after conceding 24 Premier League goals in 13 games.
Jones explains that Begovic is the Hammers’ preferred signing, but that Liverpool stopper Simon Mignolet will be considered if the Bosnian is unavailable.
Chelsea no.19 Diego Costa was linked with a €50m bid from Inter Milan earlier this week, via Calciomercato who cited reports in Spanish magazine Don Balon.
However, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has today provided an update on that story, which he describes as “absurd”.
“We will try to evaluate the positions we feel need strengthening.”
John Obi Mikel
Following The Sun recently claiming that Manchester United were keen on signing Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, reports in Turkey claim that Besiktas are in the race too.

Colombian forward Luis Muriel is being monitored by Chelsea, according to Calciomercato.com, who add that Conte will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether or not to bid for the 25-year-old.
Muriel has scored six goals in 14 Serie A games for Sampdoria so far this term, but Conte seemingly wants to see if he can maintain that form over a longer period.
Chelsea would have to spent €28m (£23.87m) to activate Muriel’s release clause, per Calciomercato.
