Liverpool receive huge injury boosts as key Brazilian set to return this weekend

Liverpool have been handed a huge boost ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Reds fans had been sweating on the fitness of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino after he was left out of Tuesday night’s team for the 2-0 win over Leeds United,

Firmino missed the Leeds game as a precaution, according to Sky Sports, who now report that the 25-year-old is likely to be recalled at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Joel Matip was also absent in midweek, but Sky say he should be back against the Cherries too.

One player who won’t be available on the South Coast is Philippe Coutinho, who could miss the remainder of 2016 with an ankle injury picked up in last Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

Striker Firmino has been excellent this season, but fellow Brazil international Coutinho has been even better.

Firmino has scored five goals and provided three assists in 12 Premier League games, while Coutinho has bagged five goals and five assists in 13 outings.

Matip has started 11 of Liverpool’s 13 Prem matches.
