Liverpool told not to waste their energy on pursuit of attacker

It’s been one of the hottest transfer rumours going since the summer, but Borussia Dortmund are doing their best to pour cold water on it. Christian Pulisic has been linked with Liverpool regularly almost since Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield, with the manager’s Dortmund connection driving most of the links.

Since then various stories have been reported about interest from the Reds, with Dortmund maintaining the American international is not for sale. Now, to make things even clearer, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has directly responded, telling German news paper Bild: “it’s not worth the effort for Liverpool.”

This will be a bitter blow to many fans who were keen to see the tricky attacker in action. With two goals and six assists already this season, he’s clearly having a breakthrough year, and his price will only go up.

Perhaps Klopp should have tipped off his board about the wonderkid when he arrived at Anfield and tried to get a deal wrapped up last January. In any case, it’s too late now, and they would be best served moving on to other targets.
