Man United transfer news: Mourinho adds Dutch wonderkid to Red Devils squad

Man United have reportedly signed highly-rated Dutch starlet Millen Baars after the youngster rejected offers from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

As per The Sun, academy boss Nicky Butt has made a point of reinvigorating the youth set-up at Old Trafford over the past 12 months by bringing in top talents from around Europe.

As part of that strategy it appears as though United have added Baars, a 16-year-old winger who captained Ajax’s Under-17 side as well as his national team at that level.

It’s added that he was invited to visit top European clubs before making his decision, including trips to Chelsea and Arsenal, but was convinced by the move to Manchester and is now set to try and make his name with the Red Devils.

Naturally, there is a long way to go before the promising youngster makes an impact for the senior squad, but ultimately his signing is seen as a major coup for United as they will hope he can continue develop and mature into a top player in the future.

United have a highly impressive track record of bringing through young talent and giving them a chance at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether or not that continues under Mourinho.

With so many high-quality experienced individuals at his disposal, it will be difficult for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard to further establish themselves moving forward, but Baars is a long way from that as it looks though he’s ready to embark on a new chapter in his career.
